Are looking for Public Liability Insurance for your Wedding? Then you are in the right place as all Dreamsaver Wedding Insurance policies offer £2 million of Public Liability cover for the Marrying Couple as standard. What's more, we offer 2 optional Public Liability extensions too.
If you need your Wedding Guests to have liability cover too then we offer a policy extension where you can extend your Public Liability cover on the policy to include your Wedding Guests. To do this, you will need to pay the appropriate additional premium and then your Guests will also benefit from Public Liability cover up to £2 million.
If £2 million Public Liability cover is not enough, maybe because you're getting married in a stately home or National Trust property (who often require a higher level of Liability cover), then Dreamsaver Wedding Insurance policies also offer a £5 million Public Liability Extension for additional peace of mind on your big day.
You can purchase this option to increase the cover for just the Marrying Couple or if you have purchased the Wedding Guest Liability Extension then they will also benefit from an increase in cover up to £5 million with this policy extension. Again, an additional premium will be required in order to add this to your standard policy.
Previously, we had offered a Public Liability only cover for weddings. Unfortunately, this is CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE until further notice. We do hope to re-introduce this at some point in the future for couples who have purchased another Wedding Insurance product where Public Liability cannot be extended to the guests.

Public Liability cover is there to protect you should a 3rd party be injured, or their property damaged, and they sue you. This 3rd party could be, for example, one of the wedding venue staff or caterers, who may be accidentally injured during the course of your wedding. Obviously, something such as accidental damage of property in certain venues could run to millions of pounds, hence why it is potentially a good idea to ensure you are protected in case you are found liable for the damage or injury.
It is certainly sensible to do so, yes. By taking out a policy with Public Liability cover, you are ensuring that should accidents (not considered normal wear and tear) happen at your wedding, you are financially protected. This means you won't be left to foot a bill that could end up being somewhere in the millions!
There would be nothing worse than someone else accidentally breaking an expensive vase or damaging rugs or walls and you being sued for damages that a) were not your fault and b) you didn't realise had happened. As such, it is always sensible to have Public Liability cover in place, even if it isn't a legal requirement, just in case something such as this occurs and then you won't be the one left to cover the cost.
