Anything goes when it comes to your wedding cake because, like the rest of your wedding, it's your day and your decision! Depending on the design however, you may just have to find cake makers and decorators skilled enough to pull it off!
Tiers
When it comes to how many tiers you have on your wedding cake, you can within reason, have as many as you want! You and your partner may have a lucky number or a number with a special meaning which you would like to correlate to the number of tiers you have. On the other hand, you might want the biggest wedding cake imaginable, so long as you can find a cake stand big enough!
Whatever your decision, you will need to specify this when buying your cake. Bear in mind that usually, with wedding cakes, you will be charged by the tier rather than for the cake itself, so having 3 tiers in your cake will cost more than 2 for example.
Wedding Cake Topper
Traditionally, you would have miniature versions of the Marrying Couple in formal wedding attire sitting on top of your Wedding Cake. However, like with everything on your wedding day, you can make this as unique as you like! If you want to keep the miniature versions of yourselves then you can, you can ask for them to be in a funny pose, you could have your names in sparklers, even a large decorative piece, or Lego!
Equally, if you don't want a cake topper, then you don't have to have one, or if you do have one you can ask for it to be edible if you would prefer.
