Things to think about when buying wedding insurance

16th December 2011 by Adam

Christmas and New Year is one of the most popular times for couples to get engaged and while the actual wedding day may be some way off, it could make sense to protect your wedding with Dreamsaver wedding insurance from the outset.

With Dreamsaver wedding insurance you can take out cover to protect your wedding up to 2 years before the actual ceremony, so once you have selected the date you are getting married, you might like to think about wedding insurance.

Most weddings in the UK will have one ceremony and one reception on the same day, however, Dreamsaver wedding insurance has the flexibility to allow for up to 21 days between the wedding ceremony and the reception, so if you like the idea of getting married abroad and having a reception when you return, we can accommodate that under the policy. If you are getting married abroad you may also like to consider travel insurance, to protect your flights and other arrangements.

The level of cover you need to purchase will depend upon the total cost of your wedding. You will need to think about how much it would cost if you had to, unfortunately, cancel your wedding in its entirety due to one of the insured reasons. If you are not sure how much your wedding will cost then why not use our handy wedding cost calculator ?

Make sure you compare Dreamsaver wedding insurance cover levels before you purchase the policy to make sure it meets your needs. Don't worry if you are not sure how much your wedding will cost when you take out the policy as you can always call us to upgrade to a higher level of cover at a later date. However, don't be tempted to under-insure though, as if you need to claim, insurers will only pay out to the maximum per section of the level of cover you have paid for potentially leaving you out of pocket.

As with any insurance policy it makes sense to read the policy wording, which is available here, but if you have any specific questions about the cover, we will be more than happy to answer them if you call 01483 562 662. We often write articles on sections of cover and these can be found in our news section . Previously we have covered, wedding insurance cancellation cover ,military weddings, adverse weather and public liability cover.

Dreamsaver is designed to be bought online, to make it quick and easy to protect your forthcoming wedding with a one-off payment. You are covered (except for financial failure and redundancy sections of cover) immediately, including any deposits that you have paid prior to taking out the policy.

If you are looking for a wedding service supplier in your local area then you may find someone appropriate in our wedding links directory. Please note: we do not endorse or recommend any of the 3rd party suppliers, they are provided for informational purposes only.
